Got a car that overheats or cuts out? Sell it fast for cash. We buy cars in any condition, free towing South Africa-wide, paperwork handled.
An overheating car that regularly cuts out isn't just inconvenient-it's often unsafe and expensive to diagnose or repair. In South Africa, worn radiators, blown head gaskets, coolant leaks, and electrical issues are common culprits. Repair costs can quickly approach or exceed the value of older vehicles.
| Fault Type | Typical Repair Cost (R) | Chances of Recurrence |
|---|---|---|
| Blown head gasket | R7,000-R18,000 | Medium-High if underlying cause isn't fixed |
| Faulty radiator or fan | R2,500-R7,500 | Medium |
| Coolant leak or water pump | R1,800-R6,000 | Medium |
| Engine control or electrical/fuel issue | R3,000-R15,000 | Varies/High |
When faced with repeat problems, selling is often the lower-risk, less stressful decision-especially if you want cash quickly and don't want to manage ongoing repairs or private sale admin.
With Sell Your Damaged Car, the process is straightforward and secure-no need to negotiate with multiple buyers or arrange your own tow truck in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, or anywhere in South Africa.
When a vehicle's mechanical condition changes-such as after repeated overheating or breakdowns-South African law requires proper deregistration or change-of-ownership notifications. Mistakes here can leave previous owners liable for traffic fines or e-toll fees tied to the VIN or registration.
Full disclosure ensures a fair, accurate offer from the start, avoiding unnecessary delays or disputes.
Once your overheating and stalling car is collected by our free towing team, payment is verified and transferred-usually on the same day. We complete deregistration with authorities, and the car is processed within the salvage or recycling market according to its condition. You are released from future admin or liability.
| Overheating / Cut-Out Issue | Typical Offer Impact |
|---|---|
| Minor (occasional overheating, starts/runs) | Modest reduction from undamaged value |
| Major (persistent, engine cuts out, won't restart) | Greater reduction, considered non-running |
| Confirmed major engine damage (e.g. seized engine) | Lowest range, salvage value only |
