Need to sell your Volkswagen after airbag deployment? Get a transparent offer, free towing, and hassle-free paperwork. Serving VW owners throughout South Africa.
If your VW was in an accident and the airbags have deployed, repairing can be costly and complicated. Sell Your Damaged Car offers a straightforward solution: upload your details online, get a transparent offer, and let us manage the rest.
An airbag deployment in your Volkswagen indicates a significant impact. For many owners, especially in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, or surrounding regions, repairing a vehicle after airbag deployment often isn't economically viable. Costs can easily exceed the car's residual value, and insurance may declare your VW a total loss or write-off. Attempting private sales can be slow and expose you to scam risks or costly towing.
When airbags deploy, replacement goes beyond the airbags themselves-modules, wiring, steering wheel, dashboards, and sensors may also need work. See how costs compare below:
| Repair Item | Estimated Cost (R) | Typical Value Retained |
|---|---|---|
| Airbag replacement (driver + passenger) | 10,000 - 30,000+ | Low (repairs often flagged in history) |
| Dashboard & sensors repair | 8,000 - 15,000+ | Medium |
| Control unit/module | 2,000 - 5,000 | Medium |
On average, repairing a VW after airbag deployment can reach R20,000-R50,000 (or more if structural damage occurred). In many cases, selling for cash becomes a more viable option, especially for older models or those with additional mechanical or cosmetic issues.
We buy all models of Volkswagen affected by airbag deployment, including Polo, Golf, Tiguan, Amarok, and more.
After an accident, there are several legal and administrative steps:
| Type of Damage | Effect on Offer |
|---|---|
| Airbags only | Moderate (still repairable or valuable for parts) |
| Structural and airbag damage | Greater impact (higher repair cost lowers offer) |
| Multiple airbags, mechanical failure | Significant reduction (may be classified as salvage only) |
Offers are always tailored to the exact state of your vehicle, with transparency about how the quote was calculated.
Once your VW is collected, payment is processed and verified immediately. The vehicle is deregistered and may be salvaged for parts, recycled, or repaired for secondary markets, depending on condition and legal compliance.
We provide free towing and administrative support across South Africa, including Gauteng (Johannesburg, Pretoria), Western Cape (Cape Town), KwaZulu-Natal (Durban), and all major cities and rural areas. No additional costs are charged for remote pickups or administrative support.
