Sell your Code 3 or written-off car in South Africa. Upload details for a competitive cash offer, free nationwide towing and fast payment. We handle paperwork and deregistration.
We Buy Code 3 Vehicles
Get a competitive cash offer for written-off or heavily damaged cars.
Free Nationwide Towing
We collect from Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and surrounding areas.
Paperwork & Fast Payment
We handle deregistration and release payment quickly after collection.
If you need to sell-code-3-car-south-africa, Sell Your Damaged Car buys vehicles with heavy accident damage, structural or mechanical write-offs and other serious faults. We collect nationwide, handle paperwork including deregistration, and arrange free towing so you don’t deal with transport or admin.
Owners choose to sell a Code 3 car when repairs are costly, insurance repairs are impractical, or fleet managers want to quickly remove non-running assets. Selling saves ongoing storage, towing fees and administration time compared with attempting a private sale or arranging repairs.
| Typical repair | Estimated repair cost (R) | Value retained after repair (estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| Moderate body & panel work | R10,000 - R40,000 | 30%-60% of pre-accident market value |
| Major structural or chassis repair | R40,000 - R150,000+ | Often less than 50% of pre-accident value |
| Engine or transmission rebuild | R20,000 - R100,000 | Varies widely; depends on vehicle age and parts availability |
Figures are indicative for South African market conditions and will vary by make, model, year and local labour/parts costs. Use these ranges to assess whether selling is the practical option for a Code 3 vehicle.
Learn more about our service and how it works on the About / How it works page.
| Damage type | Typical impact on offers |
|---|---|
| Structural/chassis damage | High impact - reduces offer significantly due to repair complexity |
| Engine/transmission failure | Moderate to high impact depending on replacement costs |
| Cosmetic/limited panel damage | Lower impact if mechanicals are intact |
| Flood or fire damage | High impact; may limit resale paths and parts reuse |
These categories guide valuations; every Code 3 car is priced on its specific condition, history and salvage demand in South Africa.
If your car is not running, see our dedicated guidance on Sell Non-Running Car for tailored steps and documentation tips.
If your Code 3 car is still financed, we can work with your lender to settle the outstanding balance as part of the sale process. Tell us about finance details when you upload the vehicle so we can advise next steps and required documents.
After we collect a Code 3 car, vehicles may be processed for parts, salvage resale or dismantling depending on condition and market demand. This is part of the salvage marketplace in South Africa and helps recover value from damaged vehicles while ensuring paperwork is completed correctly.

If you want more detail on selling damaged vehicles, our Sell Damaged Cars page outlines common scenarios and documentation tips.
We work with private owners and small fleets across South Africa, providing transparent offers and handling the logistics so you can convert a Code 3 car into cash without extra hassle. Our process reduces storage and administrative burden for sellers in major metros and rural areas alike.
