Sell your car with gearbox failure or transmission faults in Cape Town. We arrange free collection, handle all paperwork, and pay you quickly - any make, any condition.
Facing costly gearbox repairs? You're not alone. Many Cape Town vehicle owners discover that fixing a faulty gearbox-in automatics or manuals-can far exceed what the car is worth, especially if it's older or has other issues. Fortunately, there's a streamlined alternative: selling your car with gearbox problems for cash, without worrying about repairs or expensive quotes. Sell Your Damaged Car handles the entire process, including free collection and admin, anywhere in Cape Town or the wider Western Cape region.
A gearbox (transmission) is one of the most critical and expensive components to fix. If your car has trouble shifting gears, strange noises, won't drive, or is stuck in one gear, you may be facing substantial repair bills. In South Africa, gearbox replacement can cost anywhere from R20,000 to R80,000+ on many passenger vehicles, sometimes more with electronic, dual-clutch, or automatic units.
Here's a quick look at gearbox failure repair versus selling:
| Scenario | Estimated Cost (R) | Vehicle Value Recovered |
|---|---|---|
| Repair Gearbox | R20,000 - R80,000+ | Partial, depends on age/mileage |
| Sell As-Is (Damaged) | Minimal (No repair outlay) | Competitive cash offer based on market, condition |
Whether your car is parked in your driveway, at a mechanic, or has been standing in a storage yard, Sell Your Damaged Car will handle everything-from a free valuation to paperwork and city-wide collection.
| Damage Type | Typical Offer Impact |
|---|---|
| Gearbox Failure (non-running) | Reduces offer, but car still bought for salvage/parts |
| Partial Gearbox Function (limping mode) | Slightly higher than fully non-running |
| Additional mechanical/electrical issues | Adds further reduction, but fully evaluated |
