Learn exactly which photos to take, angles to use and expert tips for listing your accident-damaged car online in South Africa. Get faster, more accurate cash offers.
When you decide to sell your damaged car online-whether it's accident-related, non-running, or written off-photos are the most important part of your listing. They let car-buying services like Sell Your Damaged Car swiftly assess your vehicle's condition and make a competitive cash offer, without you having to schedule in-person inspections or answer endless back-and-forth questions. High-quality images communicate trust and speed up the selling process, regardless of whether you're in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town or anywhere else in South Africa.
For the most complete, helpful listing, take at least 10-12 clear photos covering these angles:
| Photo Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Front (full) | Head-on to show bumper, bonnet and windscreen; capture all visible damage. |
| Rear (full) | Direct shot of boot, rear bumper and taillights. |
| Side (driver and passenger) | Show both sides from bumper to bumper, ideally at a slight angle. |
| Close-ups of damage | For each dent, scratch, panel gap, crack or broken part - fill half the frame with the damage. |
| Wheels & tyres | Highlight broken rims, flat tyres or bent components (if any). |
| Interior (front & back seats) | Show any airbag deployment, dashboard warning lights or significant upholstery damage. |
| Odometer | Clear reading, as mileage affects valuation. |
| Engine bay (if accessible) | Especially important if there's known mechanical or water damage. |
Even if the car is non-running or cannot be moved, these photos can usually be taken with minimal effort and make the listing more attractive to serious buyers like Sell Your Damaged Car.
| Damage Type | What to Photograph | Offer Impact* |
|---|---|---|
| Bumper cracked | Full bumper angle & close-up of crack | Low-moderate |
| Airbag deployed | Dashboard with deflated airbag clearly visible | Moderate-high |
| Panel dent | Angled and close-up shots; include any paint scratches | Low-moderate |
| Chassis or suspension damage | Show visible undercarriage bends or leaks (if possible) | High |
| Flood/fire signs | Signs of soiling/burns inside and under the bonnet | High |
* Impact on offer is determined case-by-case; quality images let buyers price fairly and confidently.
Once your photos and vehicle details are uploaded, Sell Your Damaged Car's team reviews your listing, prepares an obligation-free offer, and-if you accept-schedules free nationwide collection. Your photos help speed up evaluation and reduce admin delays, getting you paid faster and stress-free, wherever you are in South Africa.
