Discover how to sell a damaged car online in South Africa. Safe, fast process, free collection, paperwork handled-turn accident, non-runner, or written-off cars into cash.
In South Africa, turning an accident-damaged, mechanically faulty or written-off vehicle into cash has never been more straightforward. Thanks to modern online car-buying services like Sell Your Damaged Car, owners across Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and smaller towns can swiftly access competitive cash offers, free towing and full support with admin-without leaving home. This specialist approach replaces time-consuming private sales and minimises hassles over towing and deregistration.
Our online damaged-car sale process is crafted for South African motorists, small business fleets, and anyone needing a transparent, efficient route out of a difficult vehicle situation.
It's not always clear whether to repair or sell a car following an accident or major mechanical issue. Common triggers for choosing to sell include:
| Example Damage Type | Estimated Repair Cost (R) | Value Retained Post-Repair (%) | Typical Sale Option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minor Panel Damage | 8,000-15,000 | 90-95% | Repair or Sell |
| Severe Accident Damage | 35,000-100,000+ | 40-65% | Sell as Damaged |
| Major Mechanical Fault (e.g. engine) | 18,000-60,000 | 55-65% | Sell as Non-Runner |
| Flood/Fire Damage | Can exceed 70,000 | Below 50% | Sell as Salvage |
Selling a damaged or non-running car online in South Africa is now a streamlined, five-step digital journey:
All major makes, models, and years are accepted-regardless of accident, flood, fire, or engine failure. Vehicles under finance require settlement with your bank, which we can coordinate as part of our service.
When using an online damaged-car sale service, sellers benefit from professional support for every legal and administrative step:
South African law requires these steps for your protection and to avoid liability for future offences linked to the vehicle post-sale. Avoid shortcuts-using a reputable, established service minimises risk of scams and ensures correct transfer.
| Damage Type | Typical Offer Impact |
|---|---|
| Accident Body Damage | Medium to High reduction, based on severity |
| Flood or Fire Damage | Significant reduction; parts and recovery value assessed |
| Major Mechanical Failure | Moderate to high reduction, especially for non-runners |
| Minor Cosmetic Flaws | Small impact; market demand relevant |
After collection, your vehicle enters the salvage or parts reuse market, depending on its condition and parts value. Sell Your Damaged Car ensures all paperwork is processed with the authorities, your payment is verified, and the deregistration occurs (if applicable). You receive final confirmation that the car is no longer linked to your name in eNatis/RTMC systems.
For business fleets or multiple-vehicle situations, batch sales and custom admin services are available-enquire for details.
