If your vehicle has been flooded or water-damaged, arranging professional towing is the first step. A specialised water-damaged car towing service in SA minimises further damage, protects your vehicle for assessment and reduces safety risks during transport.
Flood-affected vehicles require different handling compared with routine breakdowns. Salvage towing crews use flatbeds or enclosed carriers when appropriate, isolate electrical systems, and follow handling steps to avoid short circuits, corrosion or contamination. Using a specialist service also helps when you need an accurate condition report for insurers or a buyer.
| Scenario | Typical repair range (R, estimate) | Value retained after repair (estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| Minor interior water ingress | R3,000 - R12,000 | 60-85% of pre-damage value |
| Engine / ECU water exposure | R15,000 - R60,000+ | 30-60% of pre-damage value |
| Severe flood / total loss | Often exceeds vehicle value | Low - frequently declared written-off |
Estimates above are indicative and depend on vehicle age, model and extent of water penetration. For many owners, selling to a salvage buyer or arranging collection is a lower-cost, faster option than undertaking major repairs. Learn how our service works and what we buy on our About / How it works page.
| Damage type | Typical impact on offers |
|---|---|
| Surface water (interior only) | Moderate reduction - repairable |
| Engine / transmission water ingress | Significant reduction - higher salvage value |
| Severe flood with contamination | Often written-off; offers reflect salvage demand |
