Struggling to sell your Ford Ranger due to gearbox faults? We buy Rangers with gearbox issues for cash, provide free towing, and manage all SA paperwork.
If your Ford Ranger has developed gearbox problems-such as slipping gears, delayed shifting, strange noises, or even total transmission failure-you know repairs are notoriously expensive. Whether your bakkie is a non-runner, only drives in certain gears, or has been parked after a breakdown, repairing or privately selling it in this condition can be stressful, risky, and rarely worth the time and cost involved.
At Sell Your Damaged Car, we specialise in buying vehicles like your Ford Ranger, regardless of mechanical fault. You can skip the uncertainty of repair quotes, avoid low-ball trade-in offers, and let us handle all admin-including free nationwide collection, assistance with paperwork (deregistration included), and prompt, secure cash payment!
| Ranger Year & Model | Typical Gearbox Repair Cost (R) | Avg. Resale Value After Repair* | % Value Retained |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2014 Ranger 2.2 XLS | 30,000 - 45,000 | 110,000 | ~60-75% |
| 2018 Ranger 3.2 XLT | 45,000 - 65,000 | 210,000 | ~70-80% |
| 2020 Ranger Wildtrak | 55,000 - 80,000 | 370,000 | ~80-85% |
*Estimates depend on mileage, condition, service history and market factors. Costs higher for automatics or when new gearboxes are required. For aging Rangers, repairs may surpass value added at resale.
| Gearbox Symptom | Impact on Offer | Other Factors |
|---|---|---|
| Won't engage gears | High | Year, mileage, accident damage |
| Gear slipping/jumping | Medium-High | Type (manual vs automatic), service history |
| Delayed shifting/no reverse | Medium | Extent of mechanical fault |
| Minor noises/leaks only | Low-Medium | Overall body/mechanical state |
A clear, honest description with supporting photos ensures your quote reflects true market value for your fault-affected Ranger.
