Sell a flood-damaged car with outstanding finance for scrap in South Africa. We assist with lender coordination, paperwork, free towing and fast payment.
We Handle Lender Liaison
We coordinate with finance houses to facilitate settlement and clearance.
Free Nationwide Towing
Collection from Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and beyond at no cost to you.
Fast, Transparent Process
Upload details, receive an offer and get payment after clearance and collection.
If you need to sell flood-damaged vehicle that still has outstanding finance, the process is different to an ordinary private sale but it’s manageable. Sell Your Damaged Car buys flood-damaged, non-running and written-off vehicles for scrap across South Africa, and can help coordinate with finance houses, handle deregistration and arrange free towing from Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and surrounding areas.
When you choose to sell a flood-damaged car with outstanding finance for scrap, the key priorities are disclosure to the lender, clarity on settlement amounts, and a compliant transfer or clearance process. Our online valuation starts with photos and vehicle details; we then provide a transparent, competitive cash offer and explain next steps, including how outstanding finance is handled.
Begin by uploading vehicle details and clear photos. Use the quick form on our site to get an indicative valuation. For detailed guidance about damaged or non-running vehicles, see our Sell Damaged Cars and Sell Non-Running Car pages for examples of what to prepare.
| Finance status | Typical next step | Notes (SA context) |
|---|---|---|
| Settled (no finance) | Straight transfer or deregistration and payment on collection | Fastest route; we handle deregistration. |
| Outstanding finance - lender requires settlement | We can coordinate settlement with the lender; sale proceeds allocated to clear the bond | Process and timing vary by bank; ID and proof of authority usually required. |
| Vehicle still bonded but bank agrees release | Bank issues clearance; transfer or deregistration follows | We work with banks to expedite clearance where possible. |
Every lender and situation is different. Before proceeding, disclose the outstanding finance when you request a quote so we can include lender coordination in the offer and timeline.
Provide make, model, year, clear photos of flood damage and the outstanding finance details (lender name and account/reference). This allows an accurate, transparent valuation. To start, Get your free quote or Upload vehicle details.
We issue a competitive cash offer for the vehicle as-is. If finance is outstanding, we outline options: the sale can be structured so the lender is paid directly from proceeds, or you may arrange a settlement figure with the lender then receive any agreed balance. We coordinate with the finance house but final settlement terms are set by the lender.
Once the lender provides clearance or accepts settlement arrangements, we handle the required paperwork, including transfer or deregistration where applicable. Free nationwide towing is provided - we collect from metros and rural areas alike. When everything is in order, you can Confirm collection and we arrange a convenient pickup.
After lender clearance and paperwork are completed, payment is released. Where a lender is paid from the sale, any residual balance owing to you is transferred once the bank confirms settlement. We aim for fast payment and transparent verification so you know when funds are cleared. To highlight this final step, many sellers use our simple workflow to Get paid fast.
| Damage type | Typical impact on scrap offer |
|---|---|
| Complete flood immersion | Significant reduction; many parts contaminated-valuation reflects salvageable components. |
| Partial water damage (interior/electrics) | Moderate impact; some components reusable by recyclers and dismantlers. |
If you want to learn more about our service model and how we work with lenders and municipalities, review our company overview at How it works. For detailed guidance on selling non-running vehicles, see Sell Non-Running Car.
