Got scratched paintwork or surface damage? Sell your car as-is, avoid repair costs, and enjoy free towing and paperwork throughout South Africa.
Cosmetic damage like scratched paintwork is very common - from parking mishaps to minor accidents, surface scratches can impact a car's resale value. For private owners and business fleet managers in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, and nationwide, deciding whether to repair or sell as-is can be tricky. Sell Your Damaged Car offers a straightforward way to sell any vehicle, including those with visible paintwork issues, without the hassle of expensive panel beating or body shop delays.
Before investing thousands of rand in repairs, it's worth comparing the cost of repainting to what your vehicle could fetch if sold as-is. Here's a quick breakdown:
| Repair Option | Estimated Cost (R) | Value Retained |
|---|---|---|
| DIY touch-up | R300 - R1,000 | Minimal |
| Professional spot repair | R1,500 - R5,000 | Some |
| Full respray | R10,000 - R25,000+ | Partial, depends on age/model |
| Sell as-is | R0 | Quick transaction, less hassle |
Especially for older or lower-value cars, repairing scratches rarely leads to a full return on investment when selling privately. In many cases, buyers still negotiate down - even after you've spent on repairs.
We buy cars with minor scrapes, keyed doors, fading, and even severe paintwork damage. Here's how it works:
| Type of Paintwork Damage | Typical Impact on Offer |
|---|---|
| Light scratches/chips | Minor deduction |
| Deep scratches/surface rust | Moderate deduction |
| Scraped bumpers/panels | Moderate to significant deduction |
| Extensive keying/peeling clearcoat | May lower offer further |
Severity, location, and the overall age/value of your car are all considered in the offer. For many owners, the convenience of a quick, cash sale outweighs small value reductions for aesthetic defects.
All vehicles sold, regardless of condition, require proper paperwork in South Africa. Sell Your Damaged Car handles the crucial steps for you:
This process ensures your name is cleared from the eNatis register, and you stay on the right side of South African motor vehicle sale laws.
Once you accept the offer and your scratched car has been collected:
Your old car may go on to be refurbished, used for salvage parts, or supplied to the secondary market, depending on its age and extent of damage.
We arrange complimentary towing and aim to make the process transparent and efficient across South Africa - from Pretoria and Port Elizabeth to rural areas. Whether you're a private seller or a business offloading a fleet, you benefit from a centralised, expert service focused on convenience and peace of mind.
