Sell a car with engine knock in South Africa. Get a transparent cash offer, free towing nationwide and fast payment. Upload details and photos to get started.
We Buy Engine-Faulted Cars
Competitive cash offers for cars with engine knock or major mechanical failure.
Free Nationwide Towing
Collection across South Africa, including Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
Paperwork & Fast Payment
We handle transfer/deregistration and release fast payment after collection.
An engine knock (pinking, detonation or bearing noise) can make a car unreliable and expensive to repair. If you want to sell a car with engine knock quickly - as a private owner or a fleet manager in Johannesburg, Cape Town or Durban - Sell Your Damaged Car buys vehicles in any condition, handles paperwork and arranges free towing nationwide. Our online valuation is transparent and built for vehicles with engine or mechanical failure.
We consider make, model, year, mileage, visible condition and photos, plus the reported engine issue. Engine knock reduces a vehicle’s market value because repairs can be costly and labour-intensive. Our offers reflect current salvage demand and parts value in South Africa, and we present a clear, competitive cash offer - you decide whether to accept.
If you want to learn more about the overall process and how we handle paperwork and collection, see our About / How it works page. For cars that no longer start, our Sell Non-Running Car guidance explains what details help get the most accurate offer.
Quick note: Engine knock can arise from low-octane fuel, ignition timing issues, or internal mechanical wear. When the cost of repair approaches or exceeds the vehicle’s market value, selling for salvage or parts is often the more practical option.

Offers take into account salvageable parts (engine cores, transmission, electronics), towing logistics and deregistration requirements in South Africa. We provide free towing from metros and surrounding areas - including Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban - and manage documentation so you don’t need to visit multiple offices.
We handle the transfer paperwork and can assist with deregistration where applicable. If the vehicle is still under finance, inform us during the valuation so we can outline the settlement steps; clearance from your lender is usually required before ownership can transfer. For more on damaged-vehicle specifics and accepted conditions, see our Sell Damaged Cars page.
Once you accept: we confirm collection details, arrange free towing, complete the admin (including any required transfer forms), and process fast payment. If you want to Upload vehicle details now, the form takes only a few minutes and helps expedite collection and payment.
We work nationwide, provide transparent offers and settle payment promptly after collection. Keep records of the transfer and payment confirmation for your records; if the vehicle is financed, keep your lender informed so the outstanding balance is settled correctly.
If your car is showing engine knock, selling can remove an uncertain repair burden and unlock immediate funds. To start, Get your free quote, or Upload vehicle details and photos now - we’ll respond with a clear offer and arrange collection if you accept.

Wondering how we calculate your car’s value? At Sell Your Damaged Car, we look at: Your car’s real condition, its salvage value, and the current market demand. It’s all about honesty, transparency, and fairness — that’s how we determine your offer.
