Sell a car with a dead engine for spares across South Africa. Free nationwide towing, paperwork handled and quick payment. Upload photos for a no-obligation offer.
Any-condition acceptance
We buy cars with seized or dead engines for parts or salvage.
Free nationwide towing
Collection from Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and beyond at no cost.
Paperwork & fast payment
We handle deregistration and release payment quickly after collection.
If your vehicle has a dead or seized engine, repairing it can be expensive, time-consuming and uncertain. Many owners choose to sell the vehicle for parts instead. At Sell Your Damaged Car we buy cars for spares in any condition, arrange free towing nationwide and handle the paperwork so you don’t have to. You can Get your free quote by uploading photos and basic details in minutes.
Repairing a dead engine often requires extensive work (rebuild or replacement) that can exceed the car’s market value. Selling for spares turns the vehicle into immediate cash, removes towing and admin headaches, and is especially practical for older models or high-mileage cars. We offer free nationwide collection, handle deregistration and provide near-instant payment once the vehicle is collected.
We accept vehicles with: seized/dead engines, blown engines, severe mechanical failure, accident damage, or non-running status. Offers depend on model, age, parts demand, and overall condition. For examples of related services see our Sell Non-Running Car page and our Sell Damaged Cars page for common scenarios.
| Part / Condition | Typical impact on offer (estimate) |
|---|---|
| Complete engine (repairable) | Higher; parts in demand - estimate ranges vary by model |
| Head, turbo, alternator, ECU | Moderate to high depending on rarity and condition |
| Seized engine (core only) | Lower; useful for salvage or scrap value |
Complete our short online form with make, model, year, mileage and clear photos. We evaluate visible parts likely to sell, overall vehicle condition and current salvage demand to produce a competitive cash offer. If you accept, we arrange free towing from anywhere in South Africa and manage the transfer paperwork. Learn more about our approach on the About / How it works page.
Quick note: Parts demand in South Africa varies by city - Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban often have active markets for common engines and components. Offers are estimates until physical collection and inspection.
If you’re ready to proceed, you can Upload vehicle details now and receive a no-obligation offer.
Selling a car with a dead engine for spares with Sell Your Damaged Car follows a clear three-step process: submit details, accept the offer, and confirm collection. We provide free nationwide towing, handle deregistration and ensure payment is processed quickly after collection.
We handle the transfer paperwork and can assist with deregistration where applicable. If the vehicle is still under finance, tell us during valuation - settlement procedures vary and we’ll outline options so you can make an informed decision. This reduces common delays associated with private sales or trade-ins.
An older sedan with a seized engine but intact electrics and interior components may attract a better parts-based offer than a similar car with extensive body damage. In metros like Johannesburg or Cape Town, specific engines and ECUs can be in high demand. Typical component-demand values vary widely - for example, small, common parts may be worth a few hundred rand, while sought-after modules can be valued in the thousands (estimates only).
