Sell your Pretoria car with a blown head gasket. Upload vehicle details for a competitive cash offer; we arrange free towing, paperwork and fast payment nationwide.
Sell As-Is in Pretoria
Get a competitive cash offer for blown head gasket vehicles with free local pickup.
We Handle Paperwork
Deregistration and finance coordination included to reduce admin burden.
Fast, Nationwide Service
Upload details, accept an offer and we arrange free towing and quick payment.
A blown head gasket can leave a vehicle overheating, smoking, or not starting - problems that quickly turn a car into a costly project. If you live in Pretoria and want to avoid repair hassles, selling the vehicle to a specialist buyer is often faster and lower risk than attempting repairs or a private sale. Sell Your Damaged Car buys vehicles in any condition and offers free nationwide collection, including Pretoria and surrounding areas.
Local note for Pretoria: We collect across Tshwane metro suburbs and can arrange paperwork assistance, including deregistration and handling finance enquiries, to simplify the sale from your location.
| Typical repair scope | Estimated cost (R) - range | Effect on resale value |
|---|---|---|
| Head gasket replacement only (no head work) | R8,000 - R20,000 (estimate) | Partial recovery; still reduced for engines with prior overheating |
| Head machining + gasket + labour | R12,000 - R30,000 (estimate) | Higher recovery if repair is certified, but costs may exceed value |
| Severe block/head damage or engine replacement | R25,000 - R80,000+ (estimate) | Often uneconomic; selling as-is is commonly preferred |
Estimates vary by make, model and labour rates across Gauteng and the rest of South Africa; use these ranges as a guide when deciding whether to repair or sell. If the likely repair cost approaches or exceeds the vehicle’s market value, selling as-is can return cash immediately and remove ongoing risk.
We buy cars with blown head gaskets, seized engines, or related mechanical failures - whether the vehicle still starts or is a non-runner. Our service covers Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and nationwide pickups. For details about how the service works and our coverage, see our About / How it works page and the Sell Non-Running Car information for guidance on non-starting vehicles.
Our process is designed for speed and clarity: upload vehicle details and photos, receive a transparent cash offer, accept if you choose, and we arrange free towing and paperwork. We handle deregistration and can liaise with finance houses when vehicles are still under finance. For more on selling damaged vehicles, see our Sell Damaged Cars page.
| Damage type | How it affects offers |
|---|---|
| Blown head gasket (no other damage) | Offer reduced to reflect repair risk and potential hidden engine damage |
| Engine seized or replaced needed | Lower offers; often sold for parts or salvage |
| Cosmetic damage in addition to engine issues | Compounded reduction - value depends on repairability |
Ready to move forward? Get your free quote by uploading vehicle details on our homepage: Get your free quote. After you upload vehicle details, accept the offer and we will confirm collection so you can get paid fast.
We collect the vehicle with free towing, complete the sale paperwork including deregistration where applicable, and release payment to your nominated bank account. If the vehicle is under finance, we coordinate with the finance house to settle or transfer as part of the closing process - saving you time and paperwork.
