Sell your Durban car with a blown head gasket. Get a transparent cash offer, free towing across Durban, paperwork handled and fast payment from Sell Your Damaged Car.
We Buy Engine-Damaged Cars
Blown head gasket, seized engines or overheating - we buy them in Durban.
Free Durban Towing
We arrange pickup across Durban and surrounding KZN at no cost to you.
Paperwork & Fast Payment
We handle transfer/deregistration and release fast payment after collection.
A blown head gasket can leave an otherwise usable car immobile or too costly to repair. If you own a vehicle in Durban with a blown head gasket, Sell Your Damaged Car buys cars in any condition - including engine-damaged and non-running vehicles. Our online process is simple: upload vehicle details and photos, receive a clear cash offer, accept if you wish, and we arrange free towing, paperwork handling (including deregistration where applicable) and fast payment.
Repairing a head gasket can be expensive and time-consuming. For many Durban owners the cost of repair, downtime and potential follow-on engine damage means selling for cash is the lower-cost, lower-risk option - especially for older cars or high-mileage vehicles. If you’re unsure whether to repair or sell, our valuation process considers repairability, salvage market demand and local costs to provide a transparent offer.
| Scenario | Estimated repair cost (R) | Typical impact on resale value |
|---|---|---|
| Small car, minor head gasket job | R6,000 - R18,000 (estimate) | May not recover full cost on resale |
| Large engine or extensive damage | R15,000 - R40,000+ (estimate) | Often uneconomical; selling is common |
Note: these are South African example ranges and depend on parts, labour and the engine type. Always treat figures as estimates and ask for a detailed quote before committing to repairs.
We accept vehicles across damage types: blown head gasket, seized engines, overheating damage, cracked heads, and consequential mechanical faults. For more detail on other non-running scenarios, see our Sell Non-Running Car page.
Consider selling if repair estimates approach or exceed the market value of the car, if multiple components show wear, or if you need funds or a quick resolution. Owners in Durban who face high tow or repair lead times often choose a straight cash sale to avoid further deterioration and to free up space.
If you want a fuller explanation of our approach and company background, visit our About / How it works page.
When a vehicle is sold, transfer of ownership or deregistration needs to be completed correctly. If the vehicle is under finance, disclose this early; outstanding finance must be settled before a clean transfer. We assist with the necessary forms and submit transfer documentation on your behalf to reduce delays. For vehicles deemed insurance write-offs, specific documentation is required - we’ll guide you through these steps.
Once we collect the vehicle in Durban, we complete the agreed paperwork, arrange any required deregistration or transfer, and release payment. Our team coordinates towing so you don’t need to find transport. Confirm collection and payment details quickly via our online portal - Confirm collection or Get paid fast.
| Damage type | Typical effect on offer |
|---|---|
| Blown head gasket / severe engine damage | Significant reduction; assessed case-by-case |
| Cosmetic body damage | Moderate effect; depends on structural integrity |
| Non-starting/electrical faults | Varies widely; diagnostics help valuation |
For owners with non-running vehicles, our Sell Damaged Cars page explains common scenarios and next steps. If you’re comparing repair vs sell options, our team can provide a no-obligation valuation to help you decide.
