Sell a car on finance in Johannesburg. We obtain settlement quotes, liaise with lenders, arrange free towing and handle transfer so you get paid quickly.
Settlement Quotes Arranged
We request lender payoffs and include them in a transparent offer.
Free Johannesburg Collection
Towing and vehicle pickup are included when you accept the offer.
We Handle the Paperwork
We coordinate lender settlement, transfer forms and fast payment.
Selling a car that is still on finance can feel complex, especially in Johannesburg where banks and retailers have strict settlement and transfer procedures. Sell Your Damaged Car buys vehicles in any condition - including cars still under finance - and provides a settlement quote, coordinates with your finance provider, handles the paperwork and arranges collection. We offer free towing across Gauteng and nationwide and provide a clear breakdown so you understand the settlement figure and net proceeds.
A settlement quote is the amount your finance provider needs to close the loan. That figure depends on outstanding principal, arrears, and early-settlement fees. We request a settlement figure on your behalf (with your consent) and include it when preparing a competitive cash offer for your car. If the sale value exceeds the settlement amount, the remaining balance is paid to you; if the settlement is higher, you’ll need to cover the shortfall to complete the transfer.
Note: We do not remove the lender’s right to settle the debt; we work with the lender to ensure settlement and lawful transfer. Exact figures are provided by the finance provider and can take one to three business days to confirm.
| Finance status | What we do |
|---|---|
| Current, no arrears | Request settlement quote, include lender payout in sale admin. |
| Arrears or default | Coordinate with lender to confirm arrears and settlement; advise on net proceeds. |
| Repossessed or statutory holds | We liaise with the lender and follow required legal steps before transfer. |
If you want to review how we manage the full sale and collection process, see our About / How it works page. For non-running or accident-damaged vehicles specifically, our guidance can be found on the Sell Damaged Cars page.
Common documents lenders typically request include the original finance agreement reference, ID of the registered owner, vehicle registration papers and payoff instructions. We prepare the sale package so you only need to provide owner ID and sign the required forms at collection.
Selling a car on finance with Sell Your Damaged Car follows clear steps designed to reduce delay and uncertainty:
We liaise with the lender for the settlement figure, prepare and submit the sale and transfer documentation, and arrange free towing across Johannesburg and surrounding regions. For vehicles under repossession processes or with complex holds, we follow the lender’s instructions and provide clear timelines so you know when transfer and payment can occur.
Settlement quotes from lenders usually take 1-3 business days. Free towing in Johannesburg is included; lender payout instructions or bank processing can add a further 1-3 business days before remaining funds reach your account. We present a transparent breakdown so you can see the settlement amount, fees (if any) and your net proceeds in R terms.
Begin by uploading vehicle details and noting that the car is on finance. We’ll request the settlement quote and return an offer that factors in the lender payout. When you accept, we handle the settlement, complete the paperwork and arrange free collection - then you receive payment quickly. Click Get your free quote or Upload vehicle details to begin.
