Sell a car that won't start in South Africa. Get a competitive cash offer, free towing nationwide, paperwork handled and fast payment - suitable for private owners and small fleets.
Sell Non-Starting Cars
We buy vehicles that won’t start and provide free nationwide towing.
We Handle Paperwork
Deregistration and admin completed for a smooth transfer and payment.
Quick, Transparent Offers
Submit details online and receive a competitive cash offer without repair hassles.
If your vehicle won’t start because of starter, electrical or major mechanical failure, repairs can be costly and time-consuming. Selling a non-starting car is often the faster, lower-effort route to free up space and recover value. Sell Your Damaged Car buys non-starting vehicles nationwide and handles towing and admin so you don’t have to.
We work with private owners and small fleets across Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and surrounding regions. Whether the engine turns over and won’t fire, the starter is dead, or there’s extensive mechanical damage, you can get a competitive cash offer without arranging repairs or transport. Learn more about our approach on the About / How it works page.
| Option | Time | Effort | Typical outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pay for repairs | Days-weeks depending on parts | High (diagnosis, parts, workshops) | Vehicle returned to service if repairs worthwhile |
| Sell as non-starting | Hours to a few days | Low (online form, accept offer) | Fast cash and no towing or paperwork hassle |
Buyers assess why a vehicle won’t start because cause drives cost and salvage demand. Typical categories include electrical faults, starter/motor failure, seized engines or extensive mechanical damage. Offers reflect condition, model, age and parts demand - not every non-starting car is treated the same.
| Issue | Offer impact |
|---|---|
| Starter/electrical fault | Moderate impact-usable parts and body often valuable |
| Seized engine/excessive mechanical wear | Higher impact-lower offer but still market for salvage/parts |
| Additional accident or flood damage | Larger impact-valuation considers combined damage |
If you want details about selling a non-running vehicle, our Sell Non-Running Car page explains criteria and documentation needed.
The online process is designed to be quick and transparent. Submit make, model, year, a description of the non-starting issue and photos. We return an obligation-free competitive cash offer. Once you accept, we arrange free towing, complete paperwork (including deregistration where required) and release payment securely.
Take clear photos from multiple angles, note whether the engine turns over, list any warning lights and gather service or ownership documents. If the vehicle is under finance, inform the buyer upfront so we can explain options and required clearance steps-this avoids delays at collection. For additional details about dealing with damaged or non-running vehicles, see our Sell Damaged Cars page.
After we pick up the car (free nationwide towing), we process the paperwork and release payment to your nominated account. We’ll confirm deregistration steps and provide receipts. Payment timing is fast; exact timing depends on bank processing but we verify release promptly.
We operate nationwide, handle collections across metros and outlying areas, and follow standard verification and transfer procedures to protect sellers. If you’re unsure about next steps or want to learn about how we work in more detail, visit our About / How it works page for process transparency and customer guidance.
