Sell your car with engine failure in South Africa. Upload photos, receive a transparent cash offer, and we handle free towing, deregistration and fast payment nationwide.
Any-Condition Buyers
We purchase cars with engine failure, accident or flood damage nationwide.
Free Towing & Paperwork
We arrange collection and help with deregistration and admin.
Fast, Transparent Offers
Upload photos, get an obligation-free cash offer and quick payment.
If your vehicle has suffered engine failure - seized engine, major internal damage, or a non-starting motor - selling to a specialist buyer can be quicker and cheaper than attempting repairs. Sell Your Damaged Car buys vehicles in any condition across South Africa, offering free towing, help with paperwork (including deregistration) and near-instant payment once the sale completes.
Major engine repairs often involve high parts and labour costs, lead times for parts, and uncertainty about remaining vehicle life. Selling a car with engine failure removes towing logistics, repair risk and ongoing costs. We buy cars affected by engine failure as well as other issues such as accident damage, flood or fire damage and write-offs.
Assessment focuses on vehicle make, model, year, overall condition, and the nature of the engine failure. Photos and an honest description are sufficient to generate a transparent offer. For details on selling non-runners, see our Sell Non-Running Car page which explains common non-start causes and documentation needed.
We arrange free towing from major metros and surrounding areas - Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and beyond. After you accept the offer we take care of the paperwork (including deregistration where applicable) and immediate payment. Read more about how our process works on our About / How it works page.
| Common engine-failure scenarios | Typical inspection focus |
|---|---|
| Seized engine or hydrolocked motor | Visible damage, oil/water contamination, ease of towing |
| Major internal failure (bearing, crankshaft) | Overall vehicle condition, age, and salvageable parts |
| Intermittent no-starts due to engine control issues | Electrics, ECU condition and diagnostic history |
For cars that are damaged in other ways as well as engine failure, our Sell Damaged Cars page explains how combined issues are considered in the valuation.
Offers reflect the vehicle's market demand for parts or salvage, remaining serviceable components, and administrative complexity (finance outstanding, deregistration). Vehicles with clear service history and intact components typically receive stronger interest from buyers and dismantlers.
| Damage type | Typical offer impact |
|---|---|
| Engine failure only | Moderate - value from parts and drivetrain salvage |
| Engine failure + accident damage | Varies - combined issues lower resale complexity |
| Engine failure + flood or fire | Often higher complexity; specialist buyers evaluate corrosion/fire spread |
If the vehicle is under finance, inform your lender - settlement or transfer steps may be required. We can work with you and the finance institution to ensure the sale and deregistration process follows South African requirements. We handle the admin on your behalf where possible, including arranging transfer or deregistration documentation.
Ready to get started? Upload vehicle details and photos on our homepage to Get your free quote. Our team will reply with a transparent offer and arrange free collection and payment if you accept.
After we collect the vehicle with our towing partner, we verify condition and complete required paperwork. Payment is released quickly after verification. If deregistration is needed we handle submission to the relevant eNaTIS process on your behalf where possible.
Need a tow? We got you
Get a cash offer within 24h!
Somewhere remote? No problem!
Wondering how we calculate your car’s value? At Sell Your Damaged Car, we look at: Your car’s real condition, its salvage value, and the current market demand. It’s all about honesty, transparency, and fairness — that’s how we determine your offer.
