Need a quick sale for your scrap vehicle in South Africa? Get cash, free towing, and paperwork handled nationwide with Sell Your Damaged Car's hassle-free service.
Owning a scrap vehicle-whether it's totaled in an accident, non-running due to mechanical issues, or written-off by insurers-can be a major inconvenience. In South Africa, storage costs, parking headaches and legal responsibility mount up fast. Fortunately, selling your scrap vehicle for cash needn't be a lengthy or complex affair. Sell Your Damaged Car streamlines the process, turning your unwanted vehicle into instant financial benefit with minimal effort on your part. Our team handles cars, bakkies, small fleets and more, nationwide.
Making the decision to sell a scrap car versus repairing it requires careful comparison. In most cases, repairing a severely damaged or non-running vehicle far exceeds the future resale value. Here's a snapshot:
| Scenario | Typical Repair Costs (R) | Value Retained After Repair (R) | Recommended Option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accident Write-Off | 50,000 - 120,000 | 20,000 - 50,000 | Sell as Scrap |
| Non-Running, Engine Failure | 40,000 - 80,000 | 10,000 - 35,000 | Sell as Scrap |
| Fire/Flood Damage | Unpredictable/High | Low to Nil | Sell as Scrap |
Trying to repair and resell a scrap vehicle can result in further loss. Immediate sale brings peace of mind and cash in hand.
In South Africa, Sell Your Damaged Car has designed a fast and transparent process tailored to scrap vehicles of all makes and models:
There's no waiting for buyers, haggling, or arranging complicated logistics. The entire process is designed for Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth and all surrounding regions.
Selling a scrap car in South Africa involves more than just handing over the keys. It's important to deregister the vehicle and transfer ownership responsibly to avoid penalties or liability for future incidents.
By partnering with a nationwide service like Sell Your Damaged Car, these steps are included, reducing your workload and ensuring everything is compliant with SA law.
While scrap value is usually based on the type and condition of damage, you can help secure the strongest offer by:
| Damage Type | Typical Impact on Offer |
|---|---|
| Structural/Accident | Medium/High reduction (varies by extent) |
| Engine Failure | Medium reduction |
| Electrical/Minor Body | Lower reduction if panels/mechanicals are reusable |
| Flood/Fire | High reduction (parts rarely recoverable) |
Once your scrap vehicle is collected by our professional towing partner, it is transported to a certified salvage facility or dismantler. After release documentation is signed and payment is confirmed, you are free from liability for the vehicle. Most cars are then responsibly recycled or stripped in line with South African environmental standards, with reusable components salvaged and non-recoverable materials disposed of safely.
Choosing a specialist like Sell Your Damaged Car means you avoid the risk of illegal re-sale or abandonment-giving you reassurance and peace of mind.
