Learn the most common pricing mistakes owners make when selling a crashed car in South Africa and how to avoid them for a fair cash offer.
Selling a crashed car in South Africa can be daunting, especially if you're unsure about its true value. Many owners make costly pricing mistakes, from guessing worth to overlooking hidden repair costs. Understanding these pitfalls can help you avoid losing out on cash or wasting time. Whether your car has accident damage, is non-running, or requires extensive mechanical repair, getting pricing right is crucial for both private sellers and small business owners.
| Mistake | Impact on Offer | Typical Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Asking pre-accident value | Offer ignored or rejected | Longer wait, lower actual sale price |
| Neglecting hidden damage | Lowered or revised offer later | Deal falls through or payment delayed |
| Using retail/online prices | Unrealistic expectations | Lost time, fewer serious buyers |
For South African sellers, remember that buyers factor in the total cost to recover, repair, or salvage the vehicle-including free towing and paperwork admin where applicable. Nationwide buyers such as Sell Your Damaged Car incorporate these services into a transparent, no-hassle offer, which private sellers often overlook.
| Damage Type | Typical Impact on Offer (SA) |
|---|---|
| Minor accident damage | Low to moderate reduction (depends on repair cost vs value) |
| Major structural damage | Significant reduction; often valued for parts or scrap |
| Mechanical non-runner | Offer heavily dependent on model demand and part-out value |
| Flood/fire damage | Typically a much lower offer; resale may be for scrap only |
Once your crashed car is collected by the buyer, expect the following:
Need a tow? We got you
Get a cash offer within 24h!
Somewhere remote? No problem!
Wondering how we calculate your car’s value? At Sell Your Damaged Car, we look at: Your car’s real condition, its salvage value, and the current market demand. It’s all about honesty, transparency, and fairness — that’s how we determine your offer.
